Washington (HRNW) – U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Cuba, saying that the Caribbean nation will no longer receive oil or financial support from Venezuela and urging its leaders to reach a deal with Washington “before it is too late.” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that “there will be no more oil or money going to Cuba – zero!” and emphasized that Cuba has long depended on Venezuelan oil and money in return for providing “security services” to past Venezuelan governments. The U.S. pressure comes after the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces, which has disrupted Venezuelan oil shipments to Cuba and heightened regional tensions. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel rejected Trump’s ultimatum, asserting that the United States has no moral authority to dictate Cuba’s decisions and reaffirming Cuba’s sovereignty. According to reports, Cuba’s economy, heavily reliant on Venezuelan oil, is already under strain and the cutoff could deepen existing shortages and hardship.
