Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will impose a 100% tariff on Canadian goods if Canada proceeds with a trade deal with China.
Speaking on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump accused Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney of attempting to make Canada a “drop-off port” for Chinese products entering the US and said this would undermine North American security. He also criticized Canada for opposing the proposed US missile defense project, Golden Dome, over Greenland, which he said could protect Canadian security.
Trump further claimed that China’s influence could overwhelm Canada’s social fabric, while Ottawa continues to prioritize close economic ties with Beijing. In his post, Trump referred to Prime Minister Carney as “Governor Carney.”
