Trump Accuses Local Leaders of Inciting Unrest After Minneapolis Immigration‑Related Shooting

Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has accused Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and the Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, of “inciting people to revolt” following the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis resident by federal immigration agents, which has sparked widespread protests and civil unrest.

Trump criticized local leadership for making the situation worse with their statements after the incident, saying their rhetoric is turning protests into what he described as “a rebellion” that could threaten peace and order.

In response, Governor Tim Walz blasted the federal government, saying it is unfit to lead the investigation into the shooting and insisting that violence cannot be the answer. He has demanded that President Trump withdraw federal forces from Minnesota, calling actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “ruthless” and accusing federal authorities of exacerbating tensions.

The shooting occurred during a large federal immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis, part of what has been dubbed Operation Metro Surge, which has already drawn significant controversy and protests nationwide after multiple fatal civilian shootings by federal agents.
