Karachi, Pakistan (HRNW)- A violent confrontation broke out in Karachi’s bustling Saddar area after two street vendors allegedly assaulted a traffic police officer during an attempt to clear road blockages. The incident, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, shows the officer being attacked as he tried to remove illegal stalls obstructing the flow of traffic. The footage depicts the officer, identified as Mohammad Hafeez, being pushed to the ground before other bystanders and traffic personnel intervened to stop the assault.
According to police officials, the incident occurred on Mubarak Shaheed Road following reports of a severe traffic jam caused by vendors occupying the main thoroughfare. An FIR has been registered at the Saddar Police Station on behalf of the affected officer. Authorities have confirmed that one suspect involved in the violence has been apprehended, while a second suspect remains at large. Additionally, the vendor responsible for causing the initial traffic obstruction has also been taken into custody as investigations continue.
