Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir publicly criticized Defense Minister Azrael Katz after the minister ordered a re-examination of the investigation report on military failures during the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023. The Defense Minister also suspended officer promotions for a month, prompting Zamir to call the decision politically motivated and harmful to army readiness. Zamir emphasized that any further investigation should be conducted by an impartial, independent commission, highlighting ongoing friction between the military and government over accountability for the war failures.
