Karachi (HRNW)– An 18-year-old youth, identified as Nasir Ahmed, was shot dead during an armed robbery near Parishan Chowk, close to Tahir Hotel in Bilal Town, Karachi. Eyewitnesses and family members reported that the shooting occurred when the victim allegedly resisted the robbery attempt.

Following the incident, Nasir Ahmed’s body was immediately transferred to the Civil Hospital. However, law enforcement response was significantly delayed as officers from Ittehad Town and Mominabad police stations reportedly engaged in a jurisdictional dispute for over three hours. The delay hampered prompt legal action and caused immense distress to the victim’s family.
Subsequently, Muhammad Akram Awan, Chairman of Union Council 10, Bilal Town, contacted SSP Kemari, Amjad Sheikh, prompting the Ittehad Town police to arrive at Civil Hospital and complete the necessary legal procedures. Nasir Ahmed’s body was then handed over to his family.
Speaking about the incident, Muhammad Akram Awan expressed deep concern over the delayed response, stating, “A mother has lost her son, yet the police spent more than three hours arguing over jurisdiction, leaving the family in unbearable anguish and delaying legal proceedings.”
He further announced that Nasir Ahmed’s funeral prayers would be held today and urged the SSP Kemari to ensure the prompt arrest of the culprits and their swift and exemplary punishment, emphasizing that such measures are essential to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The shooting incident has also caused fear among residents in the area, with citizens voicing strong concerns over the effectiveness and coordination of the local police.
