Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has described the recent riots in the country as a conspiracy orchestrated by the United States and Israel, stating that the unrest was actually a systematic attempt at a coup, which was ultimately thwarted by the Iranian nation.

In a statement shared on social media, Khamenei said this was not merely an allegation, but that evidence proves the events were planned abroad. He claimed that statements made by the US president served as signals to rioting elements to move forward and receive external support.

The Iranian Supreme Leader further stated that the recent riots were part of a foreign-controlled coup attempt, in which the CIA and Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad allegedly used all available resources to incite unrest. However, he said the plan failed due to the resistance and unity of the Iranian people.
