Supreme Court Acquits Former Minister Anwar Saifullah in OGDC Illegal Recruitment Case

Islamabad (HRNW)- The Supreme Court has acquitted former federal minister Anwar Saifullah in the case related to illegal recruitments in OGDC.

In the illegal recruitment case, the trial court had earlier sentenced former minister Anwar Saifullah to one year in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 5 million. Later, the High Court acquitted Anwar Saifullah, after which an appeal was filed against the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court.

Subsequently, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court had abolished the fine of Rs 5 million and restored the prison sentence. A review petition was then filed against the decision of the three-member bench.

The review petition was heard by a three-member bench headed by Justice Hashim Kakar, which ultimately acquitted former minister Anwar Saifullah, bringing an end to the long-running legal case.
