Eastern Sudan (HRNW)– An Ilyushin IL-76 military cargo plane crashed in eastern Sudan, killing all on board. According to military sources, the plane experienced a technical fault while attempting to land at a port near the Osman Digna military base on the Red Sea.

The aircraft caught fire upon crashing. The Sudanese army confirmed the incident but did not specify the number of personnel on board. The IL-76, a Soviet-era aircraft, has long been used by the Sudanese military for transporting heavy equipment and personnel.
This tragic incident occurs amid an ongoing power struggle between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which has killed thousands and displaced nearly 12 million people since April 2023. No evidence of terrorist involvement has been reported, and no group has claimed responsibility.
