Karachi (HRNW)— Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Alam Odho announced a 14% reduction in street crimes across Karachi, attributing the decline to increased surveillance and law enforcement efforts.
Speaking at an event, AIG Odho highlighted the role of CCTV cameras in crime prevention and monitoring. He reported that in extortion-related cases, five gangsters were killed and over 40 arrested, while suspects involved in recent showroom firing incidents have also been apprehended.

According to the AIG, the Shaheen Force District Central has been particularly effective, with motorcycle patrols facilitating easier arrests and quicker response times.
The authorities emphasized that ongoing surveillance, community policing, and proactive measures remain key strategies to sustain the decline in criminal activity across the city.
