Oslo (HRNW)- Marius Borg Huybe, the 29-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Mette, appeared in Oslo district court today facing 38 charges, including rape, torture, domestic violence, assault, drug possession, and knife threats.
The prosecution alleges that the sexual assaults occurred between 2018 and 2024. At the hearing, Huybe denied all four rape charges. The court has ordered him to remain in detention for a month due to the risk of reoffending, while portions of the trial will be held in closed sessions. Proceedings are expected to continue until mid-March.
This trial comes amid renewed scrutiny of the royal family following the Crown Princess’s mention in documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Despite the controversy, the Norwegian parliament recently voted to maintain the monarchy.
Marius Borg Huybe does not hold any royal titles and is not an official member of the royal court. His lawyers insist he will prove his innocence in court.
