Sir Syed University Hosts Hack-e-Health 2026 to Promote Student Innovation in Healthcare Technology

Karachi (HRNW)- The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, organized Hack-e-Health 2026. This flagship healthcare hackathon was funded by the Biomed 5.0 project under the Erasmus+ grant, with the aim of transforming students’ creative ideas into practical and effective healthcare solutions. Hack-e-Tech 2026 set a new benchmark for health tech engagement at the university level by bringing together academic leadership, industrial expertise and student innovation on a single platform. The event was held under the leadership of the Chairperson of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sidra Abid Syed, while Dr. Maryam Raziq, Eng. Sania Tanveer and Eng. Jawad Shafiq played a key role in the success of the event.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Zia Mohiuddin, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Air University, presented insightful views on the changing role of biomedical engineers in the next generation healthcare system. Further reinforcing the academic perspective, Engineer Shuja-ur-Rehman, General Manager Sales and Marketing, Noor International Healthcare, highlighted real-world industry experiences, market trends and practical implementation of health technology, which gave the students an opportunity to understand the industry requirements and commercial possibilities.

The Registrar, Sir Syed University, Commodore (Rtd) Engineer Sarfraz Ali, while expressing his gratitude, said that Hack-e-Health not only gave the students an opportunity to compete but also exposed them to the requirements of collaboration, innovation and the practical world. This event is a renewal of Sir Syed University’s commitment to prepare the youth for the healthcare sector in the era of Industry 5.0. He highlighted the importance of the event, the university’s research culture, innovation and commitment to student-led technology development.
