Sindh High Court Rejects Student Union Revival Petition, Imposes Fine

Karachi, Pakistan (HRNW) — The Sindh High Court dismissed a petition seeking the revival of student unions, imposing a PKR 10,000 fine on the petitioner.

Justice Adnan Al-Karim Memon questioned the purpose of reviving unions, noting that the education system is already struggling and asking whether the aim was to give students undue influence over university administration. The court also highlighted that the petition included outdated documents from 2021, casting doubt on its relevance.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that unions are meant to provide student representation in policy-making, but the court rejected the plea and ordered the fine to be deposited at the Sindh High Court clinic.
