Karachi (HRNW)- The Sindh government has issued strict instructions to all transporters to fully comply with traffic rules and conditions of route permits, otherwise the vehicles will be seized and an FIR will be registered against the operators.
Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon said that all vehicles will be required to operate at the prescribed speed and overloading, wrong overtaking, speeding, reckless driving and one-way violation should be avoided. He said that strict implementation of the axle load limit prescribed under the National Highway Safety Ordinance 2000 will be ensured.
Sharjeel Memon further said that the use of CNG, LPG or LNG will be banned in inter-district transport and educational institutions’ vehicles, while the availability of emergency exit, first aid box and fire extinguisher will be mandatory in all public service vehicles.
He clarified that vehicles will be operated only on approved routes with valid and valid documents, including registration, fitness certificate and route permit. The use of bypasses and link roads, such as the Indus Highway (N-55) and Mehran Highway, for heavy vehicles will be prohibited.
The minister said that all drivers must have a valid HTV driving license and the presence of two qualified HTV licensed drivers will be necessary for journeys exceeding 322 km.
He warned that several transport operators are operating vehicles without route permits, fitness certificates or expired documents, which is a clear violation of the law. All concerned transporters have been directed to obtain or renew route permits for their vehicles by February 28, 2026, otherwise a special drive will be launched in collaboration with the Secretary PTA, RTAs, traffic police and district administration.
In case of non-compliance, vehicles will be seized, FIRs will be registered, vehicle registrations will be suspended and expired route permits will be cancelled, while other qualified transporters will be allotted these route permits.
