Sindh Government Orders Strict Fire Safety Measures for Private Schools After Recent Fire Incidents

Karachi (HRNW)- In view of the incidents of fire in private schools across Sindh, the Sindh government has issued instructions for strict implementation of fire safety and security measures.

According to an official letter issued by the Additional Director of the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions, School Education and Literacy Department, Sindh, Professor Rafia Mallah, all private schools have been ordered to immediately implement comprehensive fire safety protocols.

The letter states that it will be mandatory to install functional fire alarms, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers on every floor in all private school buildings, while ensuring regular testing, servicing and maintenance of these safety devices is also the responsibility of the administration.

According to the official letter, it will be mandatory to keep emergency exits and staircases open at all times, which will be clearly marked and kept free from all kinds of obstacles so that students and staff can exit safely in any emergency situation.

The instructions further state that it will be mandatory to have electrical wiring, laboratories, kitchens, generator rooms and other sensitive places in schools inspected periodically by qualified experts to minimize the risk of fire and electrical accidents.

The Sindh government has made it clear that strict action will be taken against private schools that do not implement the instructions as per the rules and regulations.
