Shehla Raza Condemns Politicization of Gul Plaza Tragedy in National Assembly

Islamabad (HRNW) — Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of the National Assembly Shehla Raza expressed her views in the National Assembly regarding the Gul Plaza tragedy, saying it is strange to use a single incident as a basis to question provinces, the 18th Amendment, and even basic education.

Shehla Raza pointed out that 40 people lost their lives in a fire incident in New Zealand, and Lahore’s Hafeez Center also caught fire three times, yet none of those incidents were politicized. She emphasized that a fire is an accident, and such unfortunate events do occur.

The PPP lawmaker further stated that it is surprising how one incident is being used to raise questions about provincial autonomy, the 18th Amendment, and fundamental education. She added that Sindh is an ancient region with thousands of years of history, and it should also be viewed from a pre-Islamic perspective.

Shehla Raza highlighted that Sindh is the only province that has always welcomed and accommodated refugees with open arms.
