Peshawar (HRNW)- The weather conditions have become extremely severe in the upper and mountainous areas of the country, where heavy snowfall and rain have closed the communication roads and stranded travelers and tourists at various places.
Several vehicles collided due to slippage near Shilabagh, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to seven. Quetta also recorded the first snowfall of the winter.
About 100 vehicles were stranded on the road due to rain and snowfall in the Tirah Valley of Khyber District, out of which 35 people have been shifted to a safe place.
After heavy snowfall in Shangla, the power system was disrupted, while several communication roads in Chitral were also closed for traffic due to snowfall.
Two to three feet of snow has fallen in the upper areas of Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan, as a result of which all land communications were cut off and people were stranded in their homes.
Snowfall continues in Murree as well, causing the Murree Expressway to be partially closed to general traffic.
The Meteorological Department has advised citizens and tourists to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
