Islamabad (HRNW)- Heavy rain in the plains and continuous snowfall in upper areas have disrupted life across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and northern regions. Roads in Upper Dir, Chitral, Swat, and Malam Jabba remain closed, trapping citizens at home. Several vehicles were stranded due to landslides, and a fielder vehicle accident in Upper Dir injured three people. Power outages have been reported in Lower Dir, Upper Dir, and Chitral due to fallen electricity poles.
In Chitral and Malam Jabba, snowfall has intensified the cold, increasing demand for firewood, which is being sold at high prices. Lowari Tunnel roads remain open with snow clearance, and authorities have instructed vehicles to use snow chains.
In Punjab, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, and surrounding districts are experiencing intermittent rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall in the upper areas. Murree has recorded 6–7 inches of snow so far, with more expected. Authorities advise citizens to take precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and contact PDMA helpline 1129 in emergencies.
