Washington (HRNW)- US Senator Bernie Sanders has strongly condemned President Donald Trump’s unilateral military action in Venezuela, calling it illegal, unconstitutional, and a violation of international law.
In a statement shared on social media, Sanders said that Trump lacks the constitutional authority to attack another country and should refrain from interfering in Venezuela’s affairs. He highlighted that 60 percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and the government should prioritize domestic crises rather than pursuing military action for oil.
Sanders warned that Trump’s actions undermine global security and circumvent Congress’s sole authority to declare war. He urged Congress to immediately pass a resolution condemning the military action to restore constitutional order.
“Donald Trump has once again shown contempt for the Constitution and the rule of law,” Sanders said, emphasizing that the US has no right to dictate Venezuela’s affairs and that Congress must act to end this illegal military aggression.
