Rajasthan (HRNW)– A tragic incident occurred during a military training exercise when an Indian Army tank practicing a canal-crossing maneuver met with an accident and sank.
According to Indian media, two personnel managed to escape the tank and save their lives, but one officer remained trapped inside. Despite repeated attempts, he could not get out in time and drowned due to the lack of immediate rescue assistance.
Police, rescue teams, and Civil Defense personnel reportedly reached the scene late, causing further delay in recovery efforts. The officer’s body later drifted far from the accident point and was recovered after hours of extensive search operations.
This is not the first such accident during Indian military exercises.
June 2024: Five personnel drowned when a tank was swept away during a river-crossing exercise in Ladakh.
October 2022: A tank explosion during a firing exercise killed two soldiers and injured another.
These repeated incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding safety protocols and preparedness during military training activities in India.
