Chandigarh (HRNW)– Political turmoil erupted in the Indian state of Punjab when Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, claimed that “500 crore rupees” are required to become the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Her statement has sparked a fresh debate in Indian politics. According to Indian media, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said she does not have enough money to give to any political party but has the ability to turn Punjab into a “golden state” again. She added that if the Congress nominates her as the Chief Ministerial candidate, she would consider returning to politics.
Meanwhile, the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party strongly criticized her statement, calling it political malice and an indication of the Congress party’s internal weaknesses.
