Lahore (HRNW)- The Punjab government has imposed strict restrictions under Section 144 to maintain public order and religious harmony on the occasion of Basant. A formal notification has been issued by the Punjab government in this regard.
According to the notification, the manufacture, purchase, sale and use of certain types of kites has been banned during Basant to prevent provocation, religious and political disputes. The notification states that the manufacture, sale and use of kites that have holy books, religious places, pictures of any personality, flags of any country or political party or religious and political images will be prohibited for the next 30 days.
The government notification has clarified that only plain or multi-colored kites and kites without pictures will be allowed during Basant. In addition, the manufacture, transportation, storage, sale and use of illegal kites have been declared a punishable offense.
The Punjab government says that the purpose of these restrictions is to maintain law and order and ensure prevention of any kind of provocation or chaos, while action will be taken against violators according to the law.
