Lahore (HRNW)- The Punjab Chief Minister’s Honorary Program for Imams of Mosques has achieved remarkable success in a short period of time. The Punjab government has delivered more than Rs 1.11 billion as honorarium to the respected Imams of Mosques within just 10 days.

According to the Punjab Home Secretary, special desks have been set up in the offices of Assistant Commissioners across the province for the distribution of the monthly honorarium of Rs 25,000, so that the payment process can be made easy and transparent.

Officials say that so far more than 68,000 Imams of Mosques have voluntarily completed their registration, which is a manifestation of trust in this program.

According to Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, the Punjab government will spend more than Rs 20 billion annually on this honorarium program. In January, the honorarium was paid through pay orders, while from February, Imams of Mosques will be paid through special honorarium cards.
