Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Approves Plan to Divide Lahore Into Two Districts to Improve Governance

Lahore (HRNW)- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given in-principle approval to divide the provincial capital Lahore into two districts. The decision aims to provide effective civic amenities, reduce administrative pressure and improve the governance system.

According to the Punjab government, it was decided in a high-level meeting that the administrative restructuring of Lahore will be formally launched immediately after Basant. Under the new administrative structure, the deputy commissioners, police and municipal systems will be separate in both districts, so that immediate and effective redressal of civic grievances can be made possible.

The permanent solution to traffic, encroachments and local government issues lies in administrative restructuring. Every decision is being taken keeping in mind the convenience of the people and transparent governance.”

Under the new administrative division, Lahore district has been divided into 10 tehsils, while Harbanspura has been included in Shalimar tehsil.

The division of Lahore is not just an administrative move but a practical step towards improving urban life, faster service delivery and solving long-standing problems. The past is a witness that when big cities adopt new models according to population and administrative pressure, the paths of urban amenities and development are paved.
