Karachi (HRNW) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi Senior Vice President and former MNA Faheem Khan on Monday said that former prime minister Imran Khan delivered unprecedented achievements during his three-and-a-half-year tenure, achievements that have no parallel in Pakistan’s 70-year history.
In a press statement, Faheem Khan said Imran Khan not only safeguarded Pakistan’s sovereignty but also sent a clear message to global powers that the country would no longer operate under external pressure.
He said giving a strong response to India, downing enemy aircraft and capturing the pilot, completely halting drone attacks, exposing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the world and presenting Kulbhushan Jadhav as a symbol of state-sponsored terrorism reflected Imran Khan’s bold and courageous leadership. He added that Pakistan established relations on an equal footing with the United States, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Iran, while also playing a decisive role in the peaceful end to the Afghanistan war.
Faheem Khan said that under Imran Khan, the economy showed clear signs of improvement as exports rose from $21 billion to $38bn, tax collection increased to Rs6,000bn, foreign exchange reserves grew to $31bn and overseas Pakistanis made record investments through the Roshan Digital Account. He added that the Reko Diq penalty was converted into a historic investment deal and a dedicated authority was formed to ensure transparency in CPEC projects.
He said the former premier provided real relief to the common man by reducing fuel and electricity prices and launching welfare initiatives such as the Ehsaas Programme, Ehsaas Ration, Kamyab Jawan Scheme and the Sehat Card, benefiting millions of families. Through the health card, he said, the poorest citizens were provided free treatment at leading private hospitals, calling it a practical manifestation of the vision of a welfare state.
Faheem Khan said farmer-friendly policies led to a significant increase in agricultural output, ensured fair prices for crops and restored farmers’ prosperity after many years. Construction packages generated millions of jobs, the economy continued to function despite Covid-19, and Pakistan’s pandemic response was appreciated by international institutions.
He said projects such as the Billion Tree Tsunami, construction of new dams and canals, promotion of tourism, establishment of Skardu International Airport, launch of the Discover Pakistan channel and environmental initiatives enhanced Pakistan’s global standing. The introduction of a single national curriculum, establishment of Rehmatul-lil-Aalameen Authority and Al-Qadir University, and promotion of Islamic values helped guide the younger generation in the right direction.
Faheem Khan said Imran Khan was the only prime minister against whom not a single corruption case could be proven during his tenure. He rejected a lavish lifestyle, adopted simplicity, protected national resources and gave the nation a message of self-respect, awareness and dignity.
He alleged that the “Form-47-backed fake government” had destroyed the country’s economy and dismantled all public welfare projects initiated by Imran Khan, while keeping a popular leader imprisoned in what he termed false cases for over two years.
Faheem Khan said that on Imran Khan’s call, a street movement had already begun across the country, including Sindh. He expressed confidence that the people of Sindh would come out on the streets for Imran Khan’s release, supremacy of the Constitution and law, and an end to inflation.
