Bangor (HRNW)- A Bombardier Challenger 650 private jet crashed during takeoff at Bangor International Airport on Sunday evening. The FAA confirmed eight people were on board, including three crew members and up to five passengers.
Emergency teams responded immediately at around 7:45 p.m., and rescue operations are ongoing. The airport has been closed overnight, and an emergency operations center has been established. The NTSB and FAA will investigate the crash.
The accident occurred during a severe snowstorm, with below-freezing temperatures and low visibility. Air traffic controllers had discussed de-icing and visibility issues shortly before the accident, and the jet reportedly flipped over after takeoff.
