Islamabad, Pakistan (HRNW)- Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting of the Federal Cabinet today, where the Ministry of Finance provided an extensive briefing on the upcoming redesign of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) banknotes. The meeting highlighted that the new currency—spanning the 100, 500, 1,000, and 5,000 rupee denominations—is being developed with the assistance of international experts to meet contemporary global standards.
The new designs will feature advanced security threads to combat counterfeiting while artistically reflecting Pakistan’s rich regional and geographical diversity. In a significant shift toward modern social representation, the banknotes will also incorporate themes celebrating the inclusion of women in national development and raising awareness for environmental conservation. To finalize these designs, the Federal Cabinet has officially constituted a dedicated committee to oversee the transition and ensure the cultural and security integrity of the new legal tender.
