Islamabad (HRNW) — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced the government’s intention to reduce electricity tariffs for the industrial sector, expressing his desire to lower the per-unit rate by Rs.10. However, he acknowledged that current financial and economic challenges make immediate implementation difficult.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is taking all possible measures to provide relief to industries and to reduce the cost of doing business, but noted that the current budgetary and energy conditions pose limitations.
Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating industrial growth and encouraging new investments. He said that further relief measures will be introduced once the economic situation improves, assuring the business community of continued support and reform-oriented policies.
This announcement reflects ongoing efforts to revive Pakistan’s industrial base, protect jobs, and strengthen economic resilience — essential for sustainable development and poverty reduction.
