Preliminary Report Reveals Rule Violations Behind Gulberg Hotel Fire Incident

Lahore (HRNW)- The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and other concerned agencies have prepared a preliminary investigation report regarding the fire that broke out at a private hotel in Gulberg, revealing serious violations of safety regulations by the hotel management.

According to the report, a boiler was installed on the hotel’s B-1 floor and was being operated using an LPG cylinder. Investigators stated that gas leakage from the boiler was the primary cause of the fire. The hotel was also using an HVAC system for heating and air conditioning, which was installed on the B-1 floor and was originally permitted to operate on Sui gas. However, the management allegedly switched to LPG cylinders, damaging the HVAC sensors and causing gas leakage.

The investigation further revealed that the hotel’s fire alarm system was not functioning automatically. Due to reliance on a manual fire alarm, there was a significant delay in alerting hotel guests, which increased the risk to human lives.

Officials also confirmed that the Civil Defense Department had issued a safety notice to the hotel administration around two and a half months prior to the incident, but it was ignored. Authorities have stated that further investigations are ongoing to determine responsibility and possible legal action.
