Bandar Abbas (HRNW)- A powerful explosion rocked a residential building in Iran’s Gulf coastal city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday, causing severe damage to the building, while several vehicles and nearby shops were also affected.
According to the news agency, the explosion took place in an 8-story building located in the city’s Moalem Boulevard area, completely destroying two floors of the building. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
State media said that rescue and firefighting teams arrived at the scene immediately after the incident and rescue operations are underway. However, there was no confirmation of casualties at this time.
Iranian media has denied reports that a commander of the Revolutionary Guards was targeted in the explosion. According to authorities, the investigation into the incident is ongoing and more details are likely to emerge soon.
