Lahore (HRNW)- Lahore Police has alerted the citizens regarding Jashn-e-Basant and said that Jashn-e-Basant will be celebrated only on February 6, 7 and 8, while kite flying will be held only on these dates. The buying and selling process will start from tomorrow.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said that 1316 cases have been registered this month for violation of the Kite Flying Act and 1237 accused have been arrested, including 28 illegal kite and string makers, 197 sellers and 1152 flyers. More than 81,000 kites and 1422 spinning wheels and prohibited strings have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
The police have instructed the citizens to fly only four and a half Khati kites and one and a half Tawa Gada during Basant, the use of cotton thread strings will be allowed, while there is a complete ban on deadly metal wire, nylon, chemical and glass-studded kites. Violation can lead to 3 to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 million, and action will be taken against manufacturers, sellers and users.
Lahore Police instructed the citizens to abide by the law and said that installation of safety rods is also underway for the protection of motorcyclists. DIG Operations appealed to the citizens to cooperate during Basant so that this festival can be celebrated in a safe and pleasant atmosphere.
