PKR 1.57 Billion Corruption Exposed in Sindh Police Uniform Procurement — AGP Report Raises Alarms

Karachi (HRNW) The procurement of police uniforms in Sindh has come under scrutiny after an Audit Report by the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) revealed massive irregularities worth PKR 1.57 billion. The report was highlighted in a 24 News HD broadcast on Tuesday.

According to the report, the Office of the IG Sindh carried out illegal actions, repeatedly violating procurement rules during 2023-24. The procurement plans and bid details were not uploaded online, defying transparency regulations.

It was further revealed that the procurement committee included only police department officials, whereas rules mandate representation from other departments as well. Additionally, NOCs from jail authorities were not obtained as required, and sales tax deductions were ignored, causing unnecessary loss to the national treasury.

The irregularities were first reported in October 2024, yet the IG Sindh’s office failed to respond. The AGP recommended identifying responsible officials and taking strict action against them. The report has now been submitted to the Sindh Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for further investigation.
