Washington (HRNW): The fourth day of the partial U.S. government shutdown came to an end after the House of Representatives approved a $1.2 trillion spending bill following its passage in the Senate, marking a significant achievement for the Trump administration.
In the House, 217 members supported the spending bill while 214 opposed it. President Donald Trump immediately signed the bill, effectively ending the shutdown that had begun on Saturday.
Disagreements in Congress remain over the deaths of two civilians during ICE raids, which was one of the key issues that led to the partial shutdown over Homeland Security funding. Speaker Mike Johnson assured Democrats regarding the scope and oversight of ICE operations.
Under the new legislation, most federal agencies will receive funding through the end of the fiscal year in September, while the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be funded only through the end of next week, pending further deliberations.
