Pakistan to Auction 600 MHz Spectrum Next Month to Boost Internet and Launch 5G: IT Minister

Islamabad (HRNW)- Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has announced that 600 MHz spectrum will be auctioned next month to increase internet speed in Pakistan and introduce 5G service in the country.

The minister said that the auction of this spectrum was approved in the Economic Coordination Committee meeting last week, the process of which will be completed within two months.

Shaza Fatima said that the spectrum available for the telecom industry in Pakistan is very limited and telecom companies are providing services only through 274 MHz. She clarified that Pakistan is facing an acute shortage of spectrum, while Bangladesh, which has a population of about two-thirds of Pakistan, provides 600 MHz spectrum.

The Federal Minister described this initiative as an important step towards providing high-speed internet and modern mobile services in the country and said that this will provide better and stable internet services to users.
