Congo (HRNW)- More than 200 people were killed on Wednesday when a coltan mine collapsed in the eastern region of Rabaya in the Central African country of Congo. Many people, including children and women, were involved in the accident, while at least 20 people were seriously injured and are being transferred to medical centers for assistance.
According to authorities, the mine collapsed due to the softening of the ground during the rainy season and the people inside the mine were buried. It has not been possible to determine the exact number of deaths yet.
According to foreign media reports, the area is under the influence of a rebel group, which is causing difficulties in relief operations.
