Islamabad (HRNW)- The Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan (TTAP) has expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with the government and announced that it will hold Imran Khan accountable for signing a new democratic charter.
According to reports from Express News, a key opposition meeting was convened under the leadership of TTAP Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai in response to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation for talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The opposition has reportedly agreed to negotiate on transparent elections and the appointment of a new Election Commissioner, emphasizing the need for a new charter to safeguard constitutional and democratic values and to resolve the ongoing political and economic crises. Chairman Achakzai underscored the restoration of the 1973 Constitution as a guiding principle.
TTAP has announced that it will task PTI Chairman Imran Khan with signing the new charter, committing all member parties to uphold its objectives.
The meeting also reviewed the success of the two-day National Opposition Conference, and decided to observe “Black Day” on February 8, both in Pakistan and globally. Discussions included nationwide strikes and street mobilization, with the formation of subcommittees at provincial and district levels to ensure the campaign’s success.
It was agreed that the new charter will encompass parliamentary supremacy, rule of law, and human rights protections, signaling a unified stance on democratic governance.
