Karachi (HRNW)– Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen leader Allama Mubashir Hassan expressed strong grief and anger over the tragic incident of minor Ibrahim falling into an open manhole near Nipa Chowrangi, calling it the worst example of negligence and indifference by the concerned institutions.
He criticized that holding the BRT Red Line project and a private store responsible in the initial investigation report is a deceptive attempt to hide the failures of the actual responsible authorities. He said that blaming any one project without a transparent and impartial inquiry is dishonesty by the Sindh government.
Allama Mubashir Hassan questioned which institution was responsible for sealing the manhole and why safety measures were ignored in such a crowded area. He said temporary suspension of officers cannot heal the deep wounds of the grieving parents.
He further added that irresponsible behavior and the failure of the system have become common, as most government reports are self-made and do not provide justice to the victims. The points mentioned in the inquiry report are contrary to reality, he said.
According to him, the incompetence of the Sindh government is the root cause of the city’s worsening problems. He criticized the government for imposing an “incompetent” mayor and failing to address major issues such as broken roads, unsafe dumpers, crime, poor sanitation, drainage, traffic mismanagement, and declining public facilities — all of which are affecting the daily lives of citizens.
He demanded that an independent committee or a judicial inquiry be formed to determine responsibility without political influence and to devise a permanent strategy to prevent such tragedies in the future. He emphasized that urgent and transparent measures are required for sustainable solutions to Karachi’s urban problems.
