Quetta (HRNW) — A crucial meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of Balochistan is being held today to discuss a major administrative restructuring in the province. The meeting will consider the creation of over five new districts and three to four new divisions to improve governance and public service delivery.
According to sources, a proposal is under review to split Pishin District into two parts, creating a new district named Barshor to enhance administrative efficiency and address public issues more effectively. There is also a strong possibility that Quetta will be upgraded to division status and divided into two districts — Quetta East and Quetta West — to ease population and administrative pressures in the provincial capital.
Furthermore, plans are being considered to separate Pishin, Killa Abdullah, and Chaman from Quetta Division and form a new division, potentially headquartered in Killa Abdullah. Another proposed division, tentatively called the Koh Sulaiman Division, may include the areas of Barkhan, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, and Baiker, with Baiker possibly being declared a new district under the name Qadirabad.
Sources also indicate that Kalat Division might be split to establish a new Bela Division, stretching from Khuzdar to Hub, with its headquarters either in Khuzdar or Bela. In the Makran region, the Kech and Gwadar districts could be divided further to create two new districts, including Turbat District.
Similarly, proposals are under consideration to transfer Jhal Magsi, Dhadar, and Bolan from Nasirabad Division to Sibi Division, while Musakhail could be added to the Zhob Division.
Experts believe that if approved, these changes would represent a historic and far-reaching administrative transformation in Balochistan, enabling better service delivery, faster justice, and more effective governance at the grassroots level. The entire province is closely watching the outcomes of today’s meeting.
