Caracas (HRNW)– Two days before the US military invasion of Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro expressed his willingness to negotiate with the United States.
According to the World News Agency, official and diplomatic sources confirmed that Maduro stated on Thursday that he was ready to negotiate an agreement with the US to cooperate against drug trafficking.
He added that Venezuela could consider cooperating with all countries, including the US, in efforts to combat drug networks in the region. The Venezuelan president emphasized that if the US acts in good faith and mutual respect, the path to negotiations remains open.
Despite these statements, US military attacks on Venezuelan boats in international waters have continued. US officials acknowledged that more than 20 airstrikes have been carried out near Venezuela since September, targeting drug trafficking and alleged illegal activities.
