Legal Experts Call for Strong Measures Against Online Harassment and Protection of Women’s Dignity

Karachi (HRNW)- Experts and legal circles have said that harming someone’s character or self-respect is a violation of the right to life and according to Article 14, the self-respect of a person is inviolable, including women.

They explained that under Article 25, all citizens are equal before the law and special laws can be made for the protection of women. Any violation has been declared a violation of fundamental human rights, and legislative and practical measures are inevitable.

Experts said that online violence is not uniform and women leaders are disproportionately targeted, therefore urgent and collective measures are necessary. According to constitutional articles, the protection and accountability of women must be ensured.

They added that to prevent misinformation, media and digital literacy must be strengthened, fact-checking is necessary in institutional communication, and legal action should be taken against harassment, fake identities, systematic threats.

Digital content laws require careful handling of personal information and images, and the identification of AI-generated content.
