Lawyer Iman Mazari Files Petition Against DG ISPR for Defamatory Remarks

Islamabad, Pakistan (HRNW)- Human rights lawyer Iman Mazari has filed a petition in the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad, requesting that the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) be summoned over remarks made during a recent press conference. In her petition, Mazari contends that the DG ISPR publicly labeled her a “lawyer of traitors” and a “foreign agent,” which she argues constitutes a serious attempt to influence an ongoing court case.

Mazari stated that the comments not only damaged her personal and professional reputation but also undermined the principles of a fair trial by attempting to prejudice judicial proceedings. The petition emphasizes that such statements from a senior military spokesperson threaten judicial independence and erode public confidence in the justice system.

She has requested the court to ensure a transparent and impartial hearing by summoning the DG ISPR to clarify his statements and their potential impact on the sub judice matter.
