Landslide in West Java, Indonesia Kills 38; Hundreds Displaced

Jakarta (HRNW)- A landslide in Cisarua, West Java province, Indonesia, has killed 38 people. The identification process is still ongoing.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said that as of Monday evening, 20 bodies had been identified and handed over to their families, while the identification process for the remaining 18 bodies was ongoing.

According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), search and rescue operations resumed on Tuesday morning, with about 800 personnel and nine excavators participating in the operation. Additional heavy machinery has been added to further expand the search area in the affected area.

According to reports, 685 people have lost their homes due to landslides in Indonesia, who have been moved to offices and other temporary shelters.

Officials say the incident was caused by two nights of heavy rain, which flooded the steep slopes of the mountainous area.
