Lahore (HRNW)- The Basant festival is about to begin in Lahore and the city is ready to rise in colors. Lahore Police has made complete security arrangements and kite flying will continue for the next three days from tomorrow. More than 10,000 police officers and jawans will be deployed on duty.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran visited Shadman, Mazang, Mochi Gate and Mall Road areas and reviewed the security situation. He said that special measures are being taken for the protection of motorcyclists and a zero tolerance policy will be implemented on chemical, metal and plastic doors. Strict action will also be taken against aerial firing and loudspeakers and the perpetrators will be sent to jail.
According to DIG Operations, 1777 cases were registered for violation of the Kite Flying Act in the last 34 days and 1872 accused were arrested. 1 lakh 2 thousand 907 illegal kites were recovered from the arrested accused while 32 illegal kite and string manufacturing factories were sealed. The shipment of illegal kites and strings from other districts was also foiled. 1547 accused who were flying kites despite the ban were also arrested.
Faisal Kamran said that effective blockades will continue on the entry and exit routes of the city and indiscriminate action will be taken against those violating the Basant code of conduct. He added that no compromise will be made on the safety of citizens and those who pose a threat to kite flying will be dealt with strictly.
