Karachi Students Denied MBBS Admissions Amid Alleged Fake Domicile Scandal and Admission Irregularities

Karachi (HRNW) – Students of Karachi who appeared for the government education board entrance exams have once again been denied fair access to medical college admissions. The MBBS admission list released by Dow Medical University on December 3, 2025, has sparked outrage, raising serious concerns about transparency and fairness in the merit system.

According to reports, more than 500 out of 860 MBBS seats were secured by students from outside Karachi, with dozens allegedly using fake Karachi domiciles to gain admission. Investigations have highlighted weak monitoring, negligence in domicile verification, and administrative incompetence by Dow University, leaving Karachi students disadvantaged despite high entrance scores. Experts blame the inaction of federal and provincial health authorities and the silence of political parties representing Karachi for allowing the irregularities to persist.

Parents and students are demanding immediate re-checking of the admission list, investigation of fake domiciles, and implementation of a transparent merit system to protect the rights of Karachi’s students.
