Karachi – Pakistan (HRNW)- The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) has announced the launch of a QR code-based secure digital correspondence system as part of efforts to modernize local governance and fully digitize municipal operations. The new system will be implemented starting 22 December 2025.
Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab explained that all official letters, notices, and communications issued by KMC will now feature a unique QR code, which can be verified by any individual or institution from any location.
The mayor emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure transparency, authenticity, and effective implementation of municipal communications. The QR code-based system is designed to secure official transactions, restore public trust, and prevent misuse or forgery of municipal documents.
He added that KMC is rapidly moving towards modern, transparent, and technology-driven governance, and the introduction of this digital system is a timely and necessary step to meet contemporary administrative needs.
