Karachi (HRNW)– A ban has been imposed on 1+4 rickshaws on 26 highways in Karachi, while a case will be registered for violation. In order to improve traffic flow in the city, the Commissioner Karachi issued a notification to impose a ban under Section 144, according to which the scope of the ban on 1+4 rickshaws has been increased from 20 to 26 highways.

According to the notification, on the recommendation of the DIG Traffic, it was decided to restrict the movement of rickshaws in the city, and a complete ban on rickshaws from Shahra-e-Faisal to II Chandrigar Road was implemented immediately.
The order said that the rickshaw ban on highways was declared effective from October 18 to December 17, in case of violation, SHOs were directed to register cases under Section 188, and the relevant departments and Deputy Commissioners were ordered to ensure immediate and strict implementation of all orders.
It was further informed that due to public complaints, traffic jams and concerns about accidents, a ban on rickshaws was imposed on the main highways, and the Commissioner Karachi imposed a complete ban on the movement of rickshaws on six more major highways.
‘The scope of the rickshaw ban has been formally extended on the new recommendations of the traffic police. The rickshaw ban on the new six highways has been implemented for a period equal to the period of the previously issued notification.’
