Judicial Probe into Gul Plaza Tragedy Begins as Sindh High Court Forms Commission

 

Karachi (HRNW): In connection with the judicial inquiry into the Gul Plaza tragedy, the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court has appointed Justice Agha Faisal as the judge of a judicial commission to investigate the incident.

According to details, a single-member judicial commission headed by Justice Agha Faisal will conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the Gul Plaza incident and determine the causes of the fire that broke out in the building. The commission will also examine various aspects of the tragedy and identify those responsible for the loss of precious human lives.

Sources say that the tenure of the judicial commission will be formally notified by the Sindh government through an official notification. The Sindh government will also issue the Terms of Reference (ToRs), under which the commission will carry out and complete its investigation.

It is worth recalling that following the tragic loss of lives in the Gul Plaza incident, there were strong and persistent demands from victims’ families and civil society for a transparent and independent judicial inquiry to ensure accountability and justice.
