Karachi (HRNW) — Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Munim Zafar, attended the funeral prayers of four members of the same family who lost their lives in the tragic Gul Plaza fire incident. He offered condolences to the bereaved family and expressed profound grief over the loss.
Speaking to the media, Munim Zafar said that the Gul Plaza tragedy is a glaring example of government incompetence and criminal negligence, where citizens watched helplessly as their loved ones perished in flames — and even now, many families await the remains of their relatives.
Later, Munim Zafar visited various areas of Orangi Town and addressed public gatherings as part of preparations for the “Let Karachi Live March” (Jeenay Do Karachi March) scheduled for February 1 on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
He stated that during the 18-year rule of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Karachi has turned into ruins — with broken roads, water and power shortages, children dying after falling into open manholes, and fatal accidents caused by reckless dump trucks depriving citizens of their basic right to live safely.
Munim Zafar further said that the people of Orangi Town are deprived of fundamental human rights, while the mayor’s actions remain limited to statements only. He emphasized that the February 1 march is not for any single political party, but for every citizen demanding their rights, safety, and dignity. He appealed to the people of Karachi to actively participate in the historic march to reclaim their city’s future.
This growing civic movement underscores the urgent need for accountability, urban reform, and protection of citizens’ rights in Pakistan’s largest metropolis.
