Tel Aviv (HRNW)– Israeli President Isaac Herzog has rejected a request from US President Donald Trump seeking a pardon for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in ongoing corruption cases. According to Arab media, Netanyahu has been facing these corruption charges for the past five years.

Trump argued in his letter that the charges were politically motivated and urged that Netanyahu be pardoned. However, President Herzog declined the request, stating that while he respects Trump’s friendship, Israel is a sovereign state whose legal system must be upheld. He emphasized that the well-being of the Israeli people remains his top priority.
