Islamabad High Court Hearing Affected by Lawyers’ Strike Over Arrests of Legal Activists

Islamabad (HRNW)- The issue of a lawyers’ strike surfaced during the hearing of a civil case at the Islamabad High Court, where proceedings were disrupted due to the absence of bar representatives.

During the hearing before Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar, Advocate Qaiser Abbas Gondal informed the court that the bar had called a strike in protest against the arrests of lawyers Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha. He stated that while he appeared in the case personally, Bar Secretary Manzoor Jaja could not attend due to the strike.

The Chief Justice questioned the basis of the strike and asked whether the arrested individuals were being recognized as lawyers. Following this exchange, no substantial progress could be made in the case due to the ongoing protest.
